The little things

Gotta say that when you know that a person has taken a song that youv'e wriiten and recorded and thrown it into their ipod and are actively engaged in listening to it and that you have ploughed your way into their left side brain area, ie the creatve side that enjoys being entertained, it makes everything worthwhile. I mean this is the reason we do it for, I guess it goes like this, a muso plays their instrument because they love it, they spend years from the age of five or so practicing the craft, honing the skills and getting turned on by those good vibrations that bounce off it, then one muso meets another and another and another with the idea of turning their individual skills into a logical sequence of sound, ie a band with songs, then you spend an eternity in dank foul smelling jam rooms, jamming and writing. What happens then is you build up a rapport with each other, an instinctual sub concious understanding so that everyone know where every one else is going to go with the kinetic energy of the song in motion before it happens. Then you add form to imagination and have a tangible reality which of course is the song, then you do this many many times and keep on doing it. Then you have a set or two sets of songs that you can then go and play to people but while this is a three way interaction, ie, the band plays, the audience responds and gives back feedback to the band then the band responds to that feedback and so the charmed inertia of the live gig rolls on like a snowball. But at some point you want to capture that song for posterity and so that people can hear it when ever they want. so you record it.Then you press it to disc then it's available for anyone.  Now when one person finds something in that song and takes it to their home, their life and loves it like you do, this is the biggest reward you can have, but bigger than that is when someone comes up to you and says ''hey Andrew I love ............ what's it about to you, I like the way it does this, I always listen to it at this time before i do this and it reminds me of this or puts me in this mood etc" well that is like winning the lottery, and someone did just that today and i'm just on a massive high because of it, i mean i have songs that when i hear them remind me of say, a particular summer, or a breakup, or a time in my life and to know that iv'e somehow payed that foward just makes me feel like i'm doing something worthwhile in this life, so thanks to Paula who has made my day and my week and my reason for being just that much better, cheers Andrew
