I just tend to listen to shows that play music that I like and that music is similar to the music the band puts out. So the videos I have of us being played around Australia come from me always having a radio on either in the background or in my ears and then when I’m lucky I’ll catch the song and if I’m on point, the back announcement, which I missed by 13 minutes on Paul Slaters show, with the tune I haven’t caught yet on my journeys. You can’t win them all. I think if you pick through the set list of the show you’ll find music that you’ll not have heard and like, it’s basically how I manage to keep at the coal face of rock music around the globe, there’s a ton of links on here to good music. I have to thank you guys for switching to direct contact so I can avoid the spam and hackers that have bombarded the site’s comments and attempted to ream my data and email contacts, for those unfamiliar with this, just contact me direct on the email on Fb , or even text, I can sort out who’s a genuine music person as opposed to a scammer quick stix that way, PS the song is up here now, the only place it’s available digitally, also check out sakuran zensen taxi man, I highly recommend this to get your blood pumping!

Cheers mates
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/72283982023-06-18T14:13:09+09:302023-06-18T14:13:09+09:30Four Course Breakfast - Harold Mickelwhite Three D Radio
Hey compadres, our Latin surf rock pulp fiction inspired song got a spin on Four Course Breakfast yesterday, as many of you know I have always got Australian radio shows on in the car, in the earphones and everywhere and this is why I often catch the band’s material, unfortunately I was driving and the jacks were a lane away and I didn’t fancy the demerit points! But it’s the first time I’ve heard this track in the car, it was a damn shame I couldn’t video it blaring through the speakers of the new truck I’m driving, but it still was a buzz that gave me a pep in my step,

Awesome!
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/72255472023-06-13T13:24:13+09:302023-06-13T13:24:13+09:30Southern FM 88.3 Petey top songs played on the station
Hey there my people, Petey off our 2009 EP No Not Nick has featured in the most played songs on Southern FM in the last 7 days in a great set that has Lachy Doley and the Vanns among many other talented bands. This means a great deal to a band like ours. We set out with the goal of putting out good music that we like, ignoring as much as humanly possible any trends and just keep going on our own journey. Whether the music hit straight away or got caught down the track didn’t ever matter to us. We have never been on trend, and as I said to see our songs and back catalogue start to get more of a look in due to our 7th release is very gratifying, some bands get picked straight up, some bands over night success takes 13 odd years. We were never going to fit with triple J, we just don’t have the right clothes and haircuts but due to the community radio scene and the many and various DJ’s and stations we’re able to keep on keeping on, we’d be dead without them.
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/72242412023-06-10T16:22:01+09:302023-06-10T16:23:21+09:30Heavy Petal - Three D Radio 93.7
https://t.co/9bZynFVjDU
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/72235902023-06-09T12:21:54+09:302023-06-09T12:21:55+09:30Fleurieu Fm - Tammy gets a spin
We just heard from one of our followers that Tammy got a spin down south ! At least until we sell enough physical copies to fund our next release.
This Monday night just gone we got a spin on Paul Slaters program " It's Always Rock and Roll " on Three D Radio with Candles getting the nod. For those who have written back and forth about programs and finding certain genres and shows you'll remember we talked last year about various DJ's with this show being one. The other was the Tokyo show " MikeRogersshow "
Even though on the opposite side of the globe and probably both unawares of the other, there's a similarity in the style of the sets.
Which brings me to a not at all smooth Segue but one that I did hint upon a couple of times. The documentary " A Rock in a hard place " is now up on YouTube channel by Todwina J Moore and has a lot of excellent content from Adelaide including Paul, talking about the formation of the Adelaide underground Rock and Punk Rock scene. It is well worth a watch and is up on our site.
Go and tune into the shows, “ It's always Rock and Roll “ is on Monday night between 11-1 Adelaide time and Mike Rogers is 8-10 Tuesday evening Tokyo time.
Until then keep moving.
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/72086312023-05-14T13:33:20+09:302023-05-14T13:33:21+09:30BbbFM 89.1 - Ekkia Evans - Regional Rewind
Hi All,

Tonight on Regional Rewind with Ekkia Evans we’re going to be getting a spin on the show. I love the opener ‘Poor Boy’ which is built on a jangly guitar riff, a great understated vocal and just a damn fine groove. It’s a great opener and has a wonderful vintage feel to it that pervades the whole album. Title track ‘Baltimore Train’ has an even more insistent groove and an almost Iggy Pop goes Country via Hoodoo Gurus groove. It’s wonderful stuff – imagine South Australian pub rock in all its glorious rough and raw, lean and mean old school rockiness and you have it!

‘Bad Man’ takes things right down, economical story telling rock that soothes the soul, It’s wonderful stuff. Three tracks in I’m a happy man. But I get happier of course. ‘How Does It Feel’ takes us on a 60’s trip that’s kinda psychedelic, kinda trippy, and very, very good. ‘Sorry’ is a little more introspective that almost feels like later Husker Du met R.E.M. at a Crowded House convention.

On an album is bereft of commonplace moments ‘I’m Going Home’ could also be vintage ‘Gurus’ meets Dandy Warhols in their ‘strummier’, poppier moments. ‘Shelter’ adds heartfelt introspection and a certain yearning that is almost breathtaking, it’s a real highlight for me even if I’m not completely sold on the sax. ‘Everything’s Wrong’ tips it’s hat at good old timeless Rock and Roll and almost has a Stonsey feel to it before ‘Wedding Cake Baby’ adds some Creedence to the mix as it gets all wonderful on you! I love it!

Closer ‘Let You Down’ brings it all together with a catchy pub rocker that sums up everything here. This is an album that has a wonderful mix of sounds and textures, left of centre – sure, but it’s also an album made by people who care. There’s no genre jumping or particular allegiances here just a love of music, or let’s say good music. Can I say these guys are my very favourite South Australian Rock outfit? I just wish they were playing live one day when I visit that beautiful State!

The press release ends with one line that I find kind of wonderful and very fitting: “Baltimore Train travails through the last 80 years of the art form dutifully tipping the hat to all the important movements that we call music”. It might not of course be strictly correct but the vibe is spot on.

Glancing at the clock it read 4.49, time to hit the atm.
As the sound of my boots grazed across the gravel, the hint of the day behind the horizon, the familiar feel of anticipation hit the system. This was a good day. Money in the bank, the routine of this particular day seemingly set in stone, coffee a phone call and a small wait. Then joy.
The doors of the service station opened and it smelt warm and welcoming, first things first. The Atm, punch the numbers and bingo, cash! Corey’s a mainstay around the Adelaide music scene having close coal face contact with the scene over the last two decades.
It’s something that all scenes need around Oz as otherwise there’d be no scene. Without people in the industry promoting it, artists, whatever their medium, be it music, painting, acting or poetry would lose heart because let’s face it, we all do it so that other people can see it, consume it, like it. If bands and artists didn’t have this drive, we’d not bother to record, release, curate our social media, tour and practice. Imagine that, there’d be no new art, that’d suck!
One of the other things Corey does to promote live music is South Coast Raw, that’s a gig that gets the punk, thrash and hard core scene together and it’s been a regularly successful gig, having some wild nights. It kinda helps that Corey is an A.V tech, this is very typical of us all, including the Strikers. The D. I. Y ethos alive and well, like with our album. I took the photos myself on my IPhone at Port Augusta at the broken down Pitchi Witchy railway station, so I relate as a lot of scenes are driven off the energy of one person and a lot of help from other crew around the driver. This is why we support the support that supports.
With a 95% local & Australian content Raw Radio is another important cog in a large consistently churning cog that keeps our culture alive !

What my clumsily laid out title should’ve read was, today DJ Macca played “ Let You Down “ off our up coming album Baltimore Train in his show! Thanks Compadre. I happen to know a bit about this dude, a fair bit as I’ve crossed paths on the same stations he works on. Where do I begin, DJ Macca has been described as a technology wonderkid, trendster and a foodist.
Born last century somewhere in the Eora Nation, Sydney, New South Wales Australia.
Has lived and worked in many cities and towns in New South Wales and Queensland.

Likes listening to modern music but was raised on music from the 1950s to the 1970s and has been an avid AM/FM radio listener for many decades.

His interest in radio presenting was reinvigorated after some radio training with 2WET 1031 TankFM in their studio in the disused water tank in Kempsey. DJ Macca presented on a drive time show and filling in on breakfast shows on Tank FM in the Macleay Valley NSW for a few years.

Then an opportunity arose to fillin on another local community radio station in the Nambucca Valley 2NVR 1059 Nambucca Valley Radio. DJ Macca plays recent releases across all genres and now has his own program as well as filling in on occasion when needed.

DJ Maccas interests include vegan food, regenerative farming, horticulture, playing chess, attending live music, plays, theatre and museums.

So there you go my people, another one of the highly important dedicated Australian DJ community who keep our industry running and together, peace Andrew xxxxxxxxx
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/69091982022-02-28T18:01:30+10:302022-02-28T18:01:30+10:30AntipodeanSF Ion Newcombe - New album backs New Book
Hi all, it gives me enormous pleasure to announce that our new album is going to be on “ Here Be Dragons “ with Ion Newcombe on AntipodeanSF on Radio Nambucca backing our inimitable producer, guitarist, keys and now published author, Brett Dion Sody. I’m touching base as those of you who have written me will be pleased to know that our new 10 track album is almost done!
We anticipate it’ll be out around January 22, we are soooo god damned hyped on this one, it’s earthy and delicious if we do say so ourselves.

What I’m really stoked about is that the station has just received 9 million in much needed and we’ll deserved funding from the Government.
3KnD Kool N Deadly is Melbourne’s only all indigenous owned and operated station, it has been a massive support to all indigenous artists and is heavily involved in the local community and obviously very connected around Australia to the other networks involved in promoting great Aussie music.
Secretly, a little guilty pleasure - It’s also just great to get a spin on the A.M dial - I can’t tell you why but I’ll hazzard a guess. I think coming from Broken Hill, I just grew up on great A.M stations that are littered throughout the bush, so that’s got to be a little part of it.

Anyhow it’s always a buzz and an honour for us. X

Her new show is a very unique format but I’m not going to give it away right now, you’ll have to tune in. What I can tell you is that it’s extremely well thought out for creatives and the audience alike. I have a feeling the show is going to grow and be an excellent vehicle for artists to talk and showcase their projects. Raegan has been involved in the industry as long as I have and therefore has an instinctual understanding of what is required to put on such a show and format it in an entertaining way. So I’ll keep you all updated and get the full interview up soon. I hope you're all doing as good as you can and things are going your way. I'm letting you know that there is new one off show in the works here in Australia that will be 3 hours of back to back, new and old Australian music. It will span the gamut of scenes and moments in time with a focus on real, passionate and " played it like you mean it " music. The Show will be this Friday from 6-10pm.

The show is the brain child of Crazy Dave ( aka Dave Saul ) from Great Lakes FM 101.5 and will be hitting the airwaves from his award winning show " The Rock Shed " , which I know you guys have become aware of recently from reading our recent blog, thank you by the way, it's great to see how much reader interest you've shown toward the article.

For those from other countries I think this will be a great chance for you to aqaint yourself with this countries rich history of music and for the aficionados it will be a great conduit to both keep abreast of what's happening around the place and reiterate on all of the great releases out there spanning the decades. Again I'll keep you in the loop so you're able to stream the show.

Until then, thanks for your feedback and keep it coming, Cheers Andrew
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/47466232017-06-16T16:47:24+09:302022-09-06T15:35:29+09:30Get On Board - Hurley Winter Classic - Nothing's Going On
Hey guys, go and have a squiz at our latest video in the news section. It's the song off " Nothing's Going On " ' Get on Board ' dubbed to Mitch Imgraben's wicked footage of the competition. Being a band of surfers this is a buzz of the highest order for us. Our latest album is one of our favourites and we're taking off where we left off on the new album we're currently working on. This new one is coming together great, we are so used to the process within ourselves and producer, Brett Sody, that we're at that intangible place where the music we are capturing to tape now has that perfectly live, real band playing before you sound. That's always been our aim and its served us well. Our recording philosophy is that if a band can capture the sound of what they are, naked without studio tricks, then you've done what you need to do when documenting your art for posterity. What we want for us and our listeners is, that if you dim the lights in the lounge room, spark up a smoke and close your eyes, you're going to be able imagine in your minds eye that there is a band playing before you, you see the music being played , envision the drums being struck, hear the pick rake across the strings and the guitar chime and feel the low thump of the bass like the strings are a wound up rubber band. The voice Conveys the melody and message and you're there, like you hearing an old 45 from the 1930's when they got that sound quite simply because, they had to all be in the same room, playing together off each other, each musician in their own pocket but gelling together to get that perfect amalgam. So much of that had been lost of late as technology has made musicians lazy with the catch cry " oh don't worry about it, we'll fix it in the mix " That's an anachronism to us, say what you will, you can say our attitudes are passé , dinosaur even, well you know what, yeah we're dinosaurs and we'll stomp on you with our big Brontosaurus feet.
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/47349242017-06-06T18:40:33+09:302022-01-17T21:15:02+10:30Dave Saul - Crazy Dave - The Rock Shed - Great Lakes F.M 101.5
We'd like to thank Dave Saul, A.K.A professionally as Crazy Dave, who heads the show '' the Rock Shed '' from 6pm - 10 pm Friday nights on Great Lakes FM. We've been getting a few spins recently off our 1st full length album '' Keep Left '' . He's spun ''Radio'' and '' It's Getting Lonely '' Let me tell you a bit about Dave, he's a prick!!! WHAT!? no, NO, no, that's not what i meant to say or even thought, my bloody Tourettes playing up again, even through the key board. No Crazy Dave has recently won the Southern Community Media X Award for best interview for his excellent interview with BandinTexas. It's quite an achievement as he's only had the show running for 18 months which in radio land is not long at all. If you listen to the interview, which is available on the normal channels, there's a link on the stations site, you'll notice it has all the elements of a great interview, it flows, it has humour, it has content and it doesn' sound contrived, which is the deathknel for interviews in radio format, when things are too smooth and pre planned too much they have that well worn formulaic sound. You need some form to an interview, a basic idea of what you want to fit in and what questions are going to be of importance to the audience and the band but you must also let the interview breath and this is why this interview won. It breathes and has timing and flow.

Anyhow we're pleased to have graced some pretty cool set lists of late and as a band who survives from community radio, we know how important DJ's like Dave are, we got our spread from being in the top 10 Airit Charts for over 2 months with our Debut Album. Before that we had always had great support around the country but when that album hit, it penetrated and pushed us in a position where when we toured, we were filling rooms and selling merch. This keeps a band firing, cheers to Crazy Dave and The Rock Shed........
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/46909842017-04-30T20:46:17+09:302017-04-30T20:46:17+09:30Lainie Anderson - The Putrid & The Privilege Having accidentally stumbled across an article by this intellectual nobody, One line jumped right off the page. It was a typical us and them article that we are used to by the likes of her and her ilk, a welfare bludger piece, that tired old chestnut, much like Lainie Anderson, Bronwyn Bishop and Andrew Bolt types themselves. The line was " welfare isn't mandatory, you can always get a job " and it was targeted at the paternalistic cashless welfare trial recipients in Ceduna. What I found so offensive is the deliberate misinformation that is disseminated by this agitating extremely priveliged middle aged hack. With the current situation being as it is, where there are at conservative estimates, 5 people for every one job advertised, welfare is not a choice, it's a necessity and a right. I won't digress into the discriminatory nature of the cashless welfare card, that can be taken up by the growing tide of decent Australians who, living in an increasingly uncertain world, understand that everyone is vulnerable to misfortune, market forces and that inequity, poverty & unemployment isn't a character flaw, it's the result of a system perpetrated by the few that effects the many. If hard work equated with financial security or success, it wouldn't be the likes of Anderson, Bishop, nor Bolt who felt the entitlement to look down their considerable Ivory towered noses, nurtured on their own sense of self importance and the belief that their station in life came about because the playing field is a meritocracy. I guess we should all be thankful that the print media, the traditional platforms of information is being democratised and these antiquated opinion piece writers are becoming redundant. In the meantime Lainie, go back to your Pinot Noir and let the rest of them eat cake.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/46677452017-04-12T16:08:38+09:302017-04-12T16:08:38+09:30William Street Strikers @ InstagramHi Folks, just letting you know that we now have an Instagram page and we will be doing some different bits and pieces on it, things like a section I've named " Tech Talk " which will be a series of posts outlining our equipment, the reason being, for those of you who like us for just our music is, we use a lot of very unique gear both in age and diversity. So we know through the communication we have with certain members that there's a clique of people who really appreciate some of our gear. Some like the vintage gear we use whilst others like the choice of high end gear that we use to get our sound. We're more than happy to oblige as we're tech nerds ourselves, we didn't realise how many of you love waxing lyrical about equipment, I guess you kind of think " this shit would bore the average punter " but, once again we've been proved wrong...and are happy to have been, anyhow I'll keep you posted, AndrewWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/46632932017-04-08T18:09:45+09:302017-04-08T18:15:49+09:30Radio KA-POW - Strikers getting a Spin - with Ben JahMin Hi Folks, in this game the object of the artist is to get ones art out to as many interested ears as possible and to also get your music in front of as many new people as possible. It's and has always been a numbers game, a jungle telegraph that allows a band to grow and prosper. While the bigger stations are crucial to any bands long term survival, so too are the many smaller community stations and increasingly the internet podcasts with a good listening base. It's an amalgam rather than a specific listening audience that keeps you out there. As I ( and many like me ) predicted in a prescient statement made many years ago, it's the pirates of the podcast that are feeding the voracious appetite of the new music elites. These listeners aren't the type to be spoon fed their music, they're far too savvy to have their tastes dictated to them. There's too many ways to find music now and whilst this transition has been difficult to digest for some, for others, such as ourselves it's been embraced and contributed to our motivation to keep on making music. Look, in Adelaide as in any other limited population base, you can only really play four times a year as an original band, anyone who knows music and audiences and punters to bands ratios knows this. To play anymore in a static market and a small population with limited venues is only going to ensure that you play to empty rooms, have to dry hump your social media and generally bore the shit out of people. It's just a fact. When times were good, you could base yourself in the east and cruise up and down the coast and find enough fresh turf to justify playing every week. These days have disappeared for now so you must have airplay in conjunction with selective gigging. This is where the blunderbuss approach comes in. If your'e getting a good spread of plays across a broad section of platforms your'e going to succeed. Anyone can access the stats of a brands/bands site now so bullshitting isn't an option anymore. To have traffic you need to be in peoples ears and what's more important, you need it to get there not from you shouting about yourself, rather from other people to whom people know and trust as educated purveyors of decent product. So for this we are thankful for the guerrillas such as Ben JahMin who have been around the block and have a healthy listening base that is growing weekly. ( don't take my word for it, use Owler or something similar to see stats ). Anyhow once again i'm here and thanking old possum scratch for the often thankless task of manning a desk and running a weekly show, it can be a lonely job but without people like BJM the current musical landscape would be very denuded.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/45514042017-01-16T15:38:30+10:302021-12-17T22:57:29+10:30Mitch Imgraben - Videographer One of our tunes has recently been dubbed in on one of Mitch's latest videos showing what appears to me to be some shots of Knights here in S.A as well as some other boss breaks. It's an awesome clip and a rush to watch so go suss it out for yourself, it's up here in our news feed and in videos or on our Facebook page, twitter or Mitch's sites as well, where you can also see some his other work. I'd been awake for around an hour which at the time meant that i'd rolled out of bed, brewed coffee and made toast and consumed a nice fat joint. The television was moaning at low level in the background and the mid winters gentle sunshine danced off the slowly rising flumes of smoke that filled the room.
A generically trained voice broke through my far off unfocussed consciousness and a name familiar to me jolted me out of my daze, '' Up next we have Max Fredericks who's here to perform his new single '' Happy ''.
What was to happen next stuck to my mind like white on rice, Max ploughed gracefully through the only rendition I'd ever hear until now of his song '' Happy ''. The song, like any song that has a deep affect on me, caused the visceral effect most common to my self in a state of pleasure, goosebumps.
From this one three and a half minute performance I was able to glean the essence and structure of it and had learnt it right there on the spot, bashing it out on an old nylon string guitar i kept close by for just such occasions. Having appropriated it and transposing it to fit my take on it, I then proceeded to inject it into the set of every band i've been in since. For the next five years it was always in the one set shows, the big support slots, the golden 12, a name given to the 12 best songs that a band has in it's arsenal of 30-40 possible songs.
These days it's still there albeit an essential rarity at times, but it's always remained. My reason for this stream of historical revery is very straight forward, through a series of events i've just gotten hold of two recorded versions, original Happy and Happy 2 and it's opened the flood gates to the aforementioned and caught me falling for it like a teenage girlfriend all over again.
We are talking of collaborating imminently and recording a '' Happy - Mark 3 '' blending a synthesis of it's original vision coupled with some of accidental but artistically valid aberrations that have been added to it whilst being nursed by anothers creative bent.
In the end, isn't this what it's all about, I think so......
William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/45376362017-01-05T12:25:53+10:302017-01-05T12:25:53+10:30Andrew P Street - the person to read. He's a lover, a leftie, a writer, a poet, a man, a musician, a father, a husband , a polymath and possibly the most informative and readable journo to have surfaced to the upper eschelon of the craft in the last 20 years, if you don't follow him I suggest checking him out, it will be an exercise well worth your doing.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/45326462017-01-01T16:45:31+10:302017-01-01T16:45:31+10:30Wrong Way Home - Top 10 - 2016Wrong Way Home has made the top 10 Australian songs played on Cary La Courses show, Subteranean Pink - Songs From The Underground, which is broadcast globally on XPR Radio on Friday Nights around 9 PM eastern standard time, thanks to all of you who've tuned in and who have made positive comments in the chat room about our song.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/45167802016-12-19T20:04:13+10:302016-12-19T20:04:13+10:30 Radio Goolwa Alex FM 96.3 - Spinning the StrikersThanks to
Radio Goolwa Alex FM 96.3 for spinning our tracks and inviting us down to play some songs in the studio, we shall be doing this soon to promote our upcoming 2017 album that we are working on now with our producer , Brett Sody. There's a poem, you know how it goes, it's sad and it's sweet and you knew it complete, when you wore a younger mans clothes, and it goes something like this....Better far from all I see, to die fighting to be free, better surely that in some bed, where in broken health i'm lead, better that with prayers and pleas, wasting slowly by degrees, better than a heart attack or through some dose of drug I lack....thanks to Master of Ceremonies - Dan Drummond.......William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/42269202016-06-13T19:32:10+09:302016-06-13T21:46:49+09:30Wrong Way Home no-4 on ISA RadioWWH came in this week at number 4 most spun track on ISA radio, the new local station that is the brainchild of Dan E Boy who himself is a stalwart of the Adelaide scene, cutting his teeth around the same time that I made my bones. This was not just a skim of a press release and your typical boiler plate regurgitated fare, it was a thoroughly accurate description of the album and the band and it's progress over the entirety of our existence to date. It is a great feeling to know that someone to whom music means a lot to, both announcers, who have been running a show for years and heavily involved in the promotion of local music, have taken the time to watch your band and it's music progress over the years, a big thanks guys, you were spot on.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/38161652015-08-12T14:24:58+09:302015-08-12T14:24:58+09:30Amrap - Best description so far - Badge of honourAmrap said this -''The William Street Strikers are Genre Agnostic, while being a typical four piece they cover Rock, Soul, Funk, Country and Pop Gems, you will enjoy.''......Now who would not be happy with that......nobody....plus, this band from it's inception wanted specifically and quite deliberately, not to be limited by any one particular genre. All the bands that we collectively like, the ones that have continually produced albums at regular intervals, have been musical bower birds and we wanted to use our collective broad influences and chops and musical dexterity , to be musically promiscuous and write music that pleased us. We hoped of course that we would find an audience, and we are very pleased that our core followers now expect nothing less of us but, it was difficult terrain to navigate for the first few years and releases as in this game, a style, branding, being easily identifiable etc are all important to many industry people because of time constraints and an increasingly flooded market place. The end result of our toil, Five releases, hundreds of shows, 8 years of hard work is, that we are very happy with our place amongst and in the Australian musical landscape, the rich tapestry that it is, we are content and glad to have our platform to contribute our little piece of art and culture to the brilliant palette that awaits our brush stroke......William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/38161312015-08-12T14:00:13+09:302015-08-12T14:00:13+09:30Crim Radio - Wrong Way Home - Crim-in-allThanks to Shelley and the crew for putting us in the set with another bunch of nefarious reprobates, like attracts like and we like to be in good company.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37950892015-07-30T22:31:32+09:302015-07-30T22:31:32+09:30JL Hensley and Crew - Spinning our TunesA big thanks to JL and Sully Mc Fly and the whole team over the pond for their constant work in sourcing new music, making it easier for the rest of us to find bands, plus for the support they've shown us by spinning our albums, cheers Guys.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37949312015-07-30T15:09:48+09:302015-07-30T15:09:48+09:30Wreck My Soul - Yesterdays Hedgehog - 4ZzZAgitate, educate , demonstrate and always give 100%, unless you're giving blood, cheers Kevin HedgehogWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37948812015-07-30T14:26:11+09:302015-07-30T14:26:11+09:30Maybe - opens the set - The Crunch Radio Port Douglas I know what I want but i must let it go, she has a sting and I surely know, she will cut me, every time she is low - thanks Nick, you unkempt degenerate rock pig.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37921102015-07-29T16:52:37+09:302015-07-29T16:52:37+09:30Alternate Reality - Milla J Bradley - Nothing's Going OnNothing's going on getting a spin in a great set last night, thanks to Camilla, who's a killa and a chilla with no filla and a set like godzillaWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37919392015-07-29T00:40:29+09:302015-07-29T00:40:29+09:30Nothing's Going on - Local Noise - Radio AdelaideThe albums name sake and last track to be recorded, the dark horse of the album has been de flowered on Radio Adelaide by Local Noise and Luke Penman, it was pretty good to hear it tonight as I caught the show in the car, a local show all about S.A music......William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37916272015-07-27T15:29:43+09:302015-07-27T15:29:43+09:30New Grooves - Adrian HooK - Wreck my SoulComing up today and Thursday on Adrian's show is Wreck My Soul, very much appreciate the continued support and good things he said about the album.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/37813022015-07-17T21:34:20+09:302015-07-17T21:34:20+09:30Alternate Reality - Nothing's Going On - Milla J..If you tuned into alternate reality on Tuesday you would've heard our new album getting a spin on Milla J's show Alternate reality, a great show that has a wide variety of interesting and new music, plus it's sprinkled with bits and pieces from all over the place. So I was on my down to pick up my smashed guitar ( another broken neck from over enthusiasm while off tap and windmilling the shit out of her ) and I hear that Cal's going to be doing some uke at the pub. Now iv'e never played a uke and always being on the lookout for new experiences, combined with my curiosity of seeing Cal play it, i rock up. I always rock up, i'd like to samba, maybe even the twist, but i usually just rock. Anyhow Cal is there and we get to talking and head out to the back room before his class starts. He picks the thing up and peels like the kid in deliverance. To me this is a mating call, I have no will to resist and no want to, so I start to blow and manage to get right inside, i blurt out a lick or two. It took me back a long fucking way, it was brilliant!. The only hard part was sitting in on the class and not jumping up to sing every time he got that thing humming. I accidentally let a couple of doggerel lines blurt out as Cal was trying to teach, poor bastard ( he was way to polite to tell me to shut the fuck up, i did it to myself though ). One of these dedicated stalwarts is our long time friend, Mr Forrister Jenot. This cat knows more about the Australian musical landscape than Molly Meldrum, Darren Levine, Glen A Baker, Ian Mc Farlane and Robert ( who knows a shitload too ) Dunstan , put together. Why, well because he's at the coal face, sleeves rolled up and shovel in hand, mucking in and sorting the shit from clay. There's the mix of intellectual and practicle, ie he's experiences the gamut of performance from listening to recorded music as well as suss ing these bands out in a live setting, which, as we all know, is crucial to be able to accurately assess what is good and what is just crap wrapped up in studio tricks. He's also not afraid to call a spade a god damned shovel, yes, Fj ain't no publicists sheep, thank heavens for that because there are so many paid up publicist trying to tell us that some band of brothers are " great " when they're as boring as batshit. We need artistic objectivity. Unfortunately when you get certain section of the media telling people. " this is the next etc etc " some people will buy it, the counter balance is Fj, aaaaand, more often than not people will come to their own conclusions after getting a counter point argument, knowledge from comparison. Apart from the aformentioned, let's not forget the countless and often thankless task that Fj performs in sifting through literally thousands of songs a month and digging out the contenders. Until you've tried it you will never know how much grit guts and determination it takes to do this on a regular and consistent basis. So with that in mind, the Australian musical landscape is in good hands, Fj ain't going to let the multitude of under represented extremely talented artists fly under the radar just because certain sections of the musical community don't deem something right for their format, no no no! He's spinning and plugging and giving these diverse and crazy interesting artists an outlet, a reason to keep creating and all the Ponies he bets on go on to do great things, they keep going validating the calculated faith that has been put in them. Pilot of the Airwaves, keep spinning your eclectic mix of tunes, we all love you buddy.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/30203852014-06-17T14:08:54+09:302014-06-17T14:08:54+09:30Wrong Way Home-AKA- All OK-New Single out real soonThe first offering from our new and upcoming album is about to be unleashed on a society ill prepared for where it's leading both Australia, wait a minute, that doesn't sound right, let's try again, in the next couple of weeks our new tune is about to be put out , it's like the first taste of what will be our high water mark thus far. So with this in mind what you will get at a gig is something which has been getting lost of late, good playing, it can't be patched in, auto tuned out, it's built from chemistry and dedication to craft and only shows up if the members of any outfit understand this. Summerhead has this in spades, as a matter of fact and I've said this openly to the members, I believe that they're almost too dedicated to performance before committing to recording, I would say that they are ready to lay down an ep, I think the turkeys baked, it's time, anyway the point of this blurb is that I'm not a betting man but I bet that their first album will be picked up by a lot of people, the simple truth is, a good song is a good song, a good band is a good band and if you have those two elements you're going to get good music.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/28773392014-04-17T18:08:17+09:302014-04-17T18:08:17+09:30Canadian Film Festival and the StrikersWe are pretty proud of the fact that the person behind the camera for our next clip will be someone who managed to write and direct a film that was deemed worthy enough to win an award at the C.I.F.F this year. Knowing that we don't have to do it, the d.i.y ethos whilst worth pursuing, is in all reality, fucking hard work, there's a lot of good old fashioned toil involved in getting the " organised chaos just got out of bed feel and look, it's not one that we relished on top of everything else we have to do to make an album seemingly effortlessly glide out of the Strikers creative cannon ready for consumption.
On top of this and the paramount golden egg is the fact that the clip is going to be art, an arthouse film, filled with one persons vision separate to the individual perception of its creators, a subjective interpretation from a different angle, the angle of the film maker. We need the masters, the Film maker who just makes film, this is what we needed, so with that in mind we are very much in what you'd have to call awe. We have tried to assiduously avoid anything associated with what we perceive to be the ugly cliches of the musical world we are in, it's not easy, how do you write a. Press release and it not sound fucking terrible or boring or terribly fucking boring. How do you take a band photo without looking like a tool, how do you do a clip with all of the above and more, we're documenting a period of life and we don't want to look at it and start cringing anymore than our audience does, trust me when we say this, more than you guys. We are proud that up until now were quite happy that we haven't been down any roads too cringeworthy, you'll never r see us playing an instrument in a clip or holding one in a picture, unless it's a live show, you know you won t get a " watch this fucking space " you know we won't spam you with stupid fucking email that ask you to come to a show when you're in Poland and the shows in Newcastle, nor will we facebook you with tons of unwanted shit, tryn sell you anything really, not that we aren't happy when you buy, we love t hat but we love because we know you want to do it, that's the difference, in actual fact we couldn't do most of the stuff we do if we didn't have certain people buying our albums, we've got a good balance, anyhow, our new clip, awesome.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/28770292014-04-17T12:57:46+09:302014-04-17T12:57:46+09:30Album / Film ClipHey all of you angry disaffected, educated, generally fucked up, agitating bunch of super human beings, good to be here, keep up the good work in your area of the world and we will to, let's face it, we have to, most of the populace on this shit fuck of a planet are inherently self entered drones deserving of no more than a spinal chord, but we digress, as members of this loosely affiliated bunch of freaks we all know that four of us, this four in these pages are half way through our new album, what a freaking monster it is, get ready for this big bastard, also the clip is being done by a dude who recently won a place in the Canadian short film festival, so it'll be art, not me and the crew trying to work a camera , blindly learning jack shit about the fine artistry of film making
Here comes our best effort to date, even if we do say so ourselves,
thanking all the supporters, from punters to dj,s to my left shoelace , you got us here, we are ready for there and that's were we're going.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/28306622014-03-31T10:14:14+10:302015-02-26T23:34:38+10:30"Awesome Aussie Music '' CairnsFm - Vivi RocketteThanks to Vivi and to all of the support we get up your neck of the woods, we couldn't do this without you guys, nice way to start a MondayWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/27781872014-03-20T17:56:36+10:302014-03-20T17:56:36+10:30Jollys World of Web - Chris Jollywe gotta pay some gratitude to Chris once again as he found us early and has done a lot to support us over the last 6 years, you should tune in to the show, great music and comedy, trivia and just about all the colours re music, he's got a few gigs, 2rrr, and a new one i think that is broadcast in Canada on one of their stations, thanks bud, we couldn't keep moving had we not been helped and helped early on with dj's who look to find new music around oz, love ya guts mate.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/27048702014-03-07T21:52:47+10:302014-03-07T21:52:47+10:30Album Update 2014 We are away, we have 75% finished one song , '' Wreck my Soul '' and have laid out the bare bones of two more tracks. We are also working three nights a week writing and crafting the tunes, probably a safe bet would be three hours per session , some of them have been six. It's safe to say we're emersed . We are going to put out Wreck my Soul ahead of the album as a prelude to whats to come, this album is the most way out romp into uncharted margins. I have to say Brett Sody of Sody Pop is a great person to work with, he has a boundless enthusiasm and is always ''on '' and into the music, for this album we have by fact of absolute acts of genious, made him the producer, it's just turning out that way, his ideas are supreme and as our musical relationship unfolds and broadens through the sheer number of hours we have spent recording music the output is hitting a new level, peace to you all.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/26977582014-03-06T20:08:51+10:302014-03-06T20:08:51+10:30Radio Adelaide spinning the StrikersAnd we are very grateful as it is starting to show up in downloads, punters at shows and new Strikers Likers, much appreciated and god damned helpful, we are Adelaide's best kept secret, or so I'm led to believe when reading interstate papers, poor bloody publicists and journos have to come up with something don't they, I believe Mr Luke Penman is going to have us in there soon on local and live soon, should be good.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/26903082014-03-05T17:27:11+10:302014-03-05T17:27:11+10:30Scott Wheelan - Max Radio - Dedicated Djgotta pay it forward to Mr Scott Wheelan who has been supporting our band since it's inception and has been hammering away behind the mic for a lot of years helping the local scene here in Adelaide, lemme tell you folks, it's the stalwarts of the media like Scott who give bands not only airtime and exposure but incentive to keep making music, how humble is the lad, we wanted to thank him personally in the sleeve of the last record but he wouldn't accept it, he wanted the stations name rather than any personal glory, thats no false prophet.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/26745142014-03-03T10:20:49+10:302014-03-03T10:20:49+10:30The Ting Tings,William Street Strikers,Martha & The Muffins,Led ZeppelinAre all in a radio promo that will be in England, Canada and New Zealand, not a bad start to the week.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/26677952014-03-01T10:59:08+10:302014-03-01T10:59:08+10:30Thanks for the Ed Castle crowd last nightGood on the people and the room and the mixer and the lighting guy, it was a nicely filled room, good vibes and some cool new friendships were struck up, some cd's got sold and we put in a solid performance, being the support it's great when you get some active engaged listeners, we had a blast, today, off to Melbourne, at the Adelaide airport now and about to hit it, love you guys.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/26290492014-02-23T12:58:05+10:302014-02-23T12:58:05+10:30New Album Recording has Begunas has the lego building process that this album is going to be. We've recorded under nearly every conceivable set of circumstances , from duress to vanity but finally we have the hard won good fortune of being able to take a little bit more time, a more deliberate and analized approach to each song and each piece of music. this only comes by having the benefit of time, time to let each song breath after recording the basic track, hitting every ones ears for a few weeks, new ideas inevitably coming up as people get their ears around it. With our last album we wanted to deliberately show our chops and live sound, revert back to a form that few bands around on the circuit today could emulate, raw unedited zero auto tune live playing, old school orchestra pit room mikes, spill and the unmistaken feel that you only get from playing together, live in the moment, together, looking at each other, interacting as pure as the live performance is minus the audience. That captured keeps a recording alive and not confined to any era. It's why so much older music still is played and thrives, people want humanity in their music. Our new album whilst having the foundations of this process will have guest players and musical layering, it will be a different direction for us and our greatest effort to date. As iv'e said before, a band is a combination of art, passion, momentum, opportunity , luck , desire and a mutual purpose. The Band can't provide the whole of the circle on it's own and a matter of undeniable fact is, the achievements of a band are probably no more than a third of that line. There are books and daily blogs with pages upon pages of info on how the whole thing works so i'm not going to go into that here. Spiritually in the sense that bands or anyone who makes art of any form needs a stage, a platform to showcase what they've put their blood sweat and tears into, financially in the sense that, people hear your stuff and then they may come and buy a cd, you only need a 1000 passionate fans to buy one cd each and youre well on your way to financing your next release, and with this country being so large, touring is expensive , so , when a station promotes you and someone gets turned on to your music you are doing well and are in debted to the people who put you out there to be heard, you can see when youve been spun, it shows in the visits and from what part of the country. Dig what? The hole in the basement, oh stop it, you said we wouldn't go there, no in all earnest Guevara ness, that is bloody frightening, what is it about clowns that are so skull fuckingly off chop, is it because as history tells us, a lot of twisted uncles seem to want to inhabit Santa, clown, super hero costumes? That they smell of cheap plonk and pall mall when you are forced to sit on their knees and pray to The Lord of capitalism with vague moral guidelines of reciprocity, you be good and good will come, that translates right through the big four religions, and are they just a dog on a cereal box, not too sure, we do hope that the references inserted within are not too arcane, a convoluted path, us never, peace brothers and sisters

William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/14194952013-08-17T06:35:00+09:302013-08-17T06:35:00+09:30Indie Bands Blog-Top UK News we are very proud to have a heap of our songs as backing music to the indie bands blog in the uk, some of the key note speakers have some very valid points that can only be written by people who have been through the experience of running a band and all the attendant rigmorol that goes with it, this type of thing unfortunately paases over a lot of people as they tend just to focus on the ' art maaaan ', well thats all very fine and dandy in a movie but in the cut throat world of music, you have to realise that the music is only one part of the equation. unfortunately nothing is more common than unrewarded genious, how many of those types do you know, ' hes got so much potential etc, unfortunately theres just a lot more to it than that. a wise man and a fool meet and only one person walks away learning something.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/14027982013-08-15T10:32:55+09:302013-08-15T10:32:55+09:30The Freedom to be-the greatest gift You know I got to say people, it's a gift that you don't expect us to keep churning out the same record over and over, we have great faith in you guys and are comfortable enough in your loyalty that we do feel free to just do what we like without having to try and replicate ourselves or worry about throwing you off as we take another sojourn and broaden our vistas. The palette is expansive and as we've begun writing we are heading to kooksville. Kooksville is a little town inside our brain where the influences of our lives are converted into existentialist expressions of truth, justice and the Australian way, of course you know this narrator by now and even as we type we know there could be a little tongue in cheek, what iv'e said is true though, i would just never say it outside of this inner sanctum, you know, i do know about grammar and punctuation, i just can't be bothered with full stops or spell check. So yeah, here we go again, friday night is writing night for the band, we gather together, get well loose and hit the room. That's the way to do it, it's the first stroke on the canvas and we feel like we have something to prove to you and ourselves and what that is, we don't know. Maybe it's just that we want to do a bit of hyper prog bombast coupled with some swampy delta dread, melded with proto punk and infused with ragas and latin grooves that remember a circle of fifths quoting Bach.It will remind you of memphis 40 years ago 100 years in to the future if you get my drift. you do know that there is a code in here that's sending messages to secret enclaves in the muldives, it's the only way to fool Mi5 and get around the oppresive regime of tyranny that fetters us all to uphold the rights of a few at the expense of many. I think what we are is musical bower birds, I mean every person who creates any art form knows, that art, particularly music, reflects whats going on around it, it cant help that, and as the western ear has only so many variables that can appeal to it, pop must borrow, as in, it may only be an 80 year old art form but it is the end of history, I won't go in to the end of history, thats a thesis of itself but i'll tryn lay it out as clearly as I can, clear as mud. Well what we have in the band are four dudes who have devoted a lot of time both playing and listening to music, we've studied it, taught it and consumed it ravenously so when we hit the room our blood pressure rises and we start to speak rapidly with cotton mouth as the enthusiasm reaches fever pitch. Then the simple melody that is brought in is then subjected to our cheeseometre and if it gets past that, the song goes in, we try it live, if people jump up and down, or it elicits a good response in another way it stays in the live set, if not it gets recorded and put on record. When the beard strokers, and what I mean by that is, the people who intellectualise music and try and quantify it write that a new sound is here, pretty quickly you go listen and it's the same old chords, same old structures etc and it kind of makes the brighter part of the music community go, yeah yeah yeah, everything goes round and around so until we actually evolve into a situation where we expand the perametres of what we are able to digest, we're all sipping from the same well. You know people dig at zep for ripping off songs without credit and whilst that may have been true to an extent, really what they put down was so far from the trad blues, it was white hot anglo interpretation of it, the new wave of alt post modern hyper bombast swampy delta dread that is here atm owes a lot to the antecedents of earlier days, just wrapped in a new package. So yeah we like to stretch simply because we have to, we'd be bored stiff peddling the same record over and over again, the new material were working on is way different than our new record, weve turned left once again and I know you guys wouldnt have us any other way.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/13771872013-08-11T20:51:55+09:302013-08-11T20:51:55+09:30Menaces@Strikers-what a fun show We had a great time last night playing with our good friends and churning out some gut thumping grooves as each band stretched out playing as if for the stars in the sky. Also, how fucking great is it to play with a bunch of cats who are down to earth like ourselves, i mean not every band is a pack of arse wipes, but there are a lot of bands who are so far up their own rectums, you know the type of bands that dont flick you gig back after youve given them one and paid them good money, or whos punters leave after the set, or the band doesnt stay and support, or they believe the local hype means their just the bees knees, well not us and the Menaces, we all know where its at and it was just a good ol shin dig with friends and a good time was had by all, thank heavens for that, Respect!!William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/13739272013-08-11T00:41:52+09:302013-08-11T00:41:52+09:30Radio Free Bakersfield @ William Street StrikersGreat to be getting some spins around the West Coast and in the surf scene particularly as we try and get to the drink at least once a week, maybe when it's minus 67 some of us are a little relunctant but Chris is in no matter what, me, mmmnnnn, I like it a little warmer. The hawaii 5/0 lick we use at the end of ' Radio ' has been used, ie the whole song to open a few surf shows, music can't help but reflect what's going on around it so that's where that part comes in, as in , we are from a large continent with a lot of rugged coastline and open spaces, you can hear the Australian Desert in ' Instant Pizza World ' the expansive ring of the sustain of the Fender Strat, ringing out in an approximation of vast empty roads, long crisp desert nights and headlights searching for meaning on lonely unsealed dirt roads to nowhere. Are we going to drive off a cliff man, this aint good, where is that friggin camping ground, pass me some of that, I need to calm my nerves, mercy! We just got a 4 and 1 half tomatoes which is our highest yet, fuck bands need this type of support because it can become very lonely out here, perticularly if you don't belong in any particular scene, thank fuck a few bands around town have given us the welcome matt lately, also Chris Coxhill of juke box jungle was the first person ever to spin us anywhere on his show and continued to support us from the very beginning to answer one of the questions you guys sent through, that was in 08. This sort of validation keeps the fire in your belly, makes it worthwhile and I can hear the screaming cinics saying '' don't ya just do it coz ya love it ?! '' well yeah but bands are bullshitting themselves if they say they don't want acceptance and the largest possible audience, maybe it's a defence mechanism against failure,' ahhh I don't care', ;; if that was the case why would you step over your grand mother to get that support etc so on and so forth, anyhow Tomatrax is right, we are on a charge and all cylinders are firing in the strikers camp, with the look of a battered prize fighter our eyes may be glazed, we aint too young to admit it and wer'e not to old to try, but we sure are hard to beat.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/13376112013-08-06T22:29:01+09:302013-08-06T22:29:01+09:30John Wrana - Fuck The PoliceMore bullshit, i'm so outraged you'll have to look this up for yourself, absolute power corrupts absolutely, who will police the police, rise up, juy 4th, take back our rights, revolt, film, report, resist, go down swinging, cowardly cops with small appendages trying to balance things up........ Those labels were bought out by multi national interests who turned it into all about units ( art for arts sake, hits for fuck sake - Don Arden ) and dollars and there was gradually the fading out of the situation where artist were allowed to grow on labels, you know, Paul Butterfield, Love, Maggie Bell, The Stooges Mc5 and the list goes on. Smaller boutique labels did fill some of that void and the DIY ethic was and will always be there but the whole business got mega with bands starting to fill large venues in the late 60's which took it from 2000 seat.er ballrooms to 10-20,000 venues and everything got mega, so yeah it will probably go through more cycling but there was always chart filler, always vacuous boy and girl bands, you know same soldier different helmet, It's a great time to do it now for artists of ant genre and any art form really, good question, If I wasn't cluster funded I could go on as it was apart of my major at Uni, the history of popular music, thesis, but I'm so tired, I've hardly slept a wink, I'm oh so tired, my mind is on the blink, I wonder if I should get up and fix myself a drink.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/13308222013-08-04T21:55:00+09:302013-08-04T21:55:00+09:30You Can Do Anything You Want To A Sleeping ElephantMassacheusses and Claremont - see a later addition, i knew i missed someone, oh Lublin Poland too

but seriously brethrens and sistenes we are very vibed about getting spins on 2SER off of our new offering ' To The Motel ' as that is an important scene to us, played heaps of shows at the unis along the east and it's great to have been supported by various dj's on the station, did you know that 2SER, whilst a lot of shows and gigs and scenes are finding it hard at present, is consistantly pulling big numbers to their end of semester shows and having to turn away punters. Now that's how to play marbles, there's a reason why there are so many good dj's with their own specialist shows on the station spanning varios decades and interests, Kingswood Country, go Lex, but all I can tell you is, every spin pretty much means a new punter to us or an email, text etc and that's god damned great for a band like ours, so far this year we have subscribed to 11 different stations, we support the stations that support us and vis versa and we believe that you ought to do the same, that is if you don't want to be spoon fed your art like a kitty petting, baby kissing corporate rock whore, do what you can, we'll do what we can because as Voltaire said ' life without music would be a mistake ' or some such variation on that general theme.

I would pay this guy to write PR as I hate writing press releases, about myself and us anyway. Also it is particularly validating that someone realises the hard work that goes into releasing every year and making a band work. Also being a player the reviewer understands the hours upon hours of practicing that musicians have to do in order to be on the ball, hats off to Roy harper, and hats off to Max.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/12687162013-07-27T03:45:00+09:302013-07-27T03:45:00+09:30What Has Australia become, turn left at Greenland I know the deputy Prime Minister has to follow the lead of Fair shake of the sauce bottle, which sounded as bad as Howard looked in an Akubra, and I know we have to keep the grinning Fascist out, but where's our humanity gone.? The scare tactic of it bleeds it leads has made us forget the facts, and, led us , to become such a scared nation, and the counter punch by GF,yeah good comeback potz, where's the fair go gone, where's the compassion, even when it was the populate or perish era and people had less access to free thinking media, we worked out pretty quickly, that, those "foreigeiners" were in fact, great for everyone in all manner of ways, let me tell you how Australia really has been, we are like a giant bowaconstrictor in regards to immigrant population, we have, in periods, had large influxes, ie, those beautiful hot blooded Europeans after ww2, then the wonderful and industrious Vietnamese, ok so the snake, he eats a big rat, you can see the meal as a little bulge in the snake for a while, then in a generation, were all having barbecues, driving commodores and saying g'day mate, we all get along,we are such a good people that we rub off , does anyone remember the lamb add, "so where are you from?" To a Vietnamese girl, " uuuuummmn Ballarat Mr Smith" in a great big broad Aussie voice, c'mon guys, you don't like Pizza? Why can't we just look at the flip side, we are one of the best economy's, we need a few more, births are falling,m population is ageing, if you don't want to be altruistic and just look at it from the wifm (what's in it for me ), c'mon Australia.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/12383732013-07-23T01:41:46+09:302013-07-23T01:41:46+09:30In response to your questions. A. Because we just don't care about that sort of bullshit, we've all done a few laps of the pool in this industry and its a tough industry, we do what we do because we are fans of the type of music we are collectively.
b. Well Kate, unfortunately, or fortunately you have to remember its called the music business, so in the end it's about bums on seats, if you work hard enough, for long enough and value everybody's time things work, if you just do this shit to party and get laid etc, well, you know what I'm saying, there's a difference between scratching your ass etc etc
At least when they put Manson on the cover, the undertone of that iconic cover, is that this person is a dangerous freak, not some to admire, follow etc, and people did anyway, what did they expect with this cover!? I mean cmon, they know what they're doing, sales have been down because of competing media, what better way to bump up sales, maybe Rolling Stone Australia should put , i'm not even going to use his name, the Melbourne rapist who snuffed out the life of an innocent and by all accounts, generally well liked nice decent person, with a bright future and loving family, yeah why not, chuck him on the cover, that'l get paper sales up, ahhhhhh fuck it all, sometimes you feel so powerless to contribute anything meaningful, anyhow rant over for now, keep an ear open and tune into '' The Band Next Door - on 2SER '' William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/11202182013-07-13T21:14:08+09:302013-07-13T21:14:08+09:30Lublin- Poland Hey Guys, thanks for all your visits and for liking our music, we love to wake up and check in and find out that a whole lot of you cool polacks have been vibing on our stuff, you can say polack can't you, it's not meant to be racist or derogatory, just like an Aussie, is a shortening of the full name, anyhow for some strange reson ,Poland we love ya, and you love us, eveyone who has come and helped and all of that should know that you are helpinmg us fund the next one. This is not always the case though, w have a few dj's, some of whom we have put up their interviews. Marcus lives and breathes music, not just one form as his bodacious dreads would suggest, he is into such a wide and varied knowledge that there's not much you could get past him without him knowing where you got the inspiration from, also he is helping us get up there for a show, now that's unabated music passion, like a band has to, he also lives it, breathes it, looks like it, he's no false prophet, I like the wild ones, the mad to live, mad to love mad to express, mad to be in the thick of it, Mr Smith we tilt our hat to you for your selfless service to the Australian indie music scene, we need more of you, respect.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/10970282013-07-10T23:51:32+09:302013-07-10T23:51:32+09:30Progress and where we are at present Well, oh yeah, hey, how you doing.? Well, it is with a large sigh of relief that I can report to you that it seems you, our core group of compadres decided that you like our new ep and sonic ambitions. Actually some of the zealots have gone batshit for it so we are both relieved and a little bit proud of our decision to go back to an antiquated recording method and go for feel over perfection. It gave us the courage to really hit our new album with a renewed vigour, we will still use the live tracking for the majority of the album but we may add some extra instrumentation, having the space to stretch out is something we ar ready for and as Keep Left showed, ther's a fair bit of different and varied tastes amongst the 4 of us. All I can say is, we are in a zone, the album zone where every non required piece of brain space wandered off into the whatever song, lick or musical bit you're in at that moment, and man, this time we have six months to do it, all our other Albums have been done in recording terms, quick, no indulgences, it hasn't been bad as all the song were gig tested and crafted from tons of plays, but to be able to take material home and listen to it over and over, I think will be a good thing for us and another first, hey guys, I could keep going but I got five minutes to get to the post office, speak soon, take it easy.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/10829282013-07-08T21:48:56+09:302013-07-08T21:48:56+09:30Australia's Present for Prince William and Kate's Baby Considering 95% of the world lives off the pittance that the 5-6 leading family's and their industries that have grown large off the suffering of the exploited workers of the world, I think the fact that we even acknowledge this antiquated tradition and not rise up and spread out the resources which should be made a right of every human being is more than enough. The trouble is, they worked out in 1945-6 ( the English , The Russians French and The U.S.A ) that with the advent of the Industrial Age,, to avoid the pre war conditions in europe before the war, ie, the Nsdp, the brown shirts, the Bolsheviks etc running around the streets brawling, disseminating propaganda, just generally doing what human beings do if they are getting a raw deal, that, there will never be a situation of full employment, so they created the Welfare state, and made it so that we, the average person, gets to have a house that we spend our lives paying off, a car, 1.5 children, a couple of days leisure, you know, work, sleep , eat, travel work, sleep eat, forn50 years fm your life till your ducked and don't care any way, well fuck you old guard, we ain't eating cake much longer, ther's a critical mass building, governments should be scared of us, the people, not the other way round, so new born Prince, English Prince, think yourself lucky that you were born now and not in 20 years time when the raping of this planet and its people will be ending, and DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM will have taken over, the ideals of liberty are worth fighting for, and capitalism will be hard to remove but we can make a fair system for all, as for the royal family, just look at the lineage of it and then look at what it produced, yep over the last 500 years, somebody in the royal family, knew someone in the royal family, not a great amount of genetic diversity there, just take a look at Charles, so any how, piss off, the cash your'e wasting on this publicity parade could save a ton of shivering, down on their luck homeless people or some other needy cause, fuck you and your sheltered little lives, get a real job, let us know how it feels after 52 weeks, God Save the Queen.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/10652432013-07-05T00:10:09+09:302013-07-05T00:10:09+09:30Crucial Fix-Sound Addiction.also stop using our artform into a mechanism for the middle. As you guys know, we devolved for our last recording and loved every minute of it. Now we're hooked, as in obsessed. Mo Town, Staxx Records, songs like '' Baby baby, where's our love go '' etc, well they hung heavy duty chains, the type you'd use to lift a truck engine, and use 12 hanging from a hook, then beat the chain in time with the drums with a specially made metal rod, and that is what is hidden in those mixes and get the hips a moving, you know the groove those records have, MY POINT BEING, that today I believe we've all become lazy because of the glut of plug ins and ready made sounds, I mean even before we entered our new phase I'd never fucking allow a pre recorded tambourine, hand clap etc, that just seemed like a humanity killer, fuck the homogenization of music at the moment, anyhow where am I, oh yeah so we're getting all our sounds for our sonngs that we're doing for the next album organically and made by ourselves, we're trying to put some art, some rock, some god dame anti - insert god damned boring as batshit but commercially successful band here - middle finger to that bunch of fucking hirstute beard stroking milieu, as in that's not a slant on any particular band, it's more just a bit of come the fuck on on, shouldn't we bleed a little bit, fuck you and those responsible for the Australian Music scene turning establishment, it's n ot what our medium was created for.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/10308952013-06-29T00:12:34+09:302013-06-29T00:12:34+09:30We get the Funding for Community Radio Well thank Senator Conroy for coming up with the funds needed to save our service, so many others have gone into this so deeply that you don't need me to re hash the news, but it means that we, William Street Strikers can continue to flourish in this big ol beautiful country that has traditionally produced fantastic artists in all genres, this is just another sector, as Iv'e said to you guys, through the support of the com sector we can survive and prosper at a level that we are comfortable with, not have to compromise our art and know that fellow music seekers have a chance of hearing us, as a token, and we intend to do it to as many as possible, we subscribed to PBS, 4ZzZ and of course our hometown Three D Radio, so we're trying to pay back the suppport, another 300 to go, but in all freaking seriousness, praise whatever the Lord means to you, strange, left of centre kooky bands like us STILL HAVE A HOME, that is all for now compadres, have a good weekend, peace.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/10005952013-06-25T02:38:11+09:302013-06-25T02:38:11+09:30Radio-The Mix Tape We got into a themed playlist the other night with ' Radio ' off Keep Left ', that's why you can't trust a band to pick a song, I, me , this narrator, your old pal and moderately functioning permutation of a carbon atom thought that we should have left it off the album, I got out voted and since then it's become a great little number for us on cool shows, don't get me wrong, I love the tune , I just thought it should be on a different album and we should go with a song that we don't even play anymore, aint that just the way of life, always want what you can't have, ummnnn, oh yeah so it's great that it's got a spin on The Mix Tape on PBS a few nights ago, I think iv'e said what I came here to say at this moment some where in space and time.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/9956932013-06-23T21:23:35+09:302013-06-23T21:23:35+09:30Interview on PBS - Kev Lobotomy-Shock Treatment We have an interview coming up about our next foray round the traps, sound like some 1920's cocky don't I, well I did come from Broken Hill, I musta heard it somewhere and just ran with it then, It's not an expression I use, not part of my stock standard vernacular, but anyhow, yeah Bring on Melbourne, Noosa, Brisbane, Port Douglas, Port Stevens, Rural S.A, Sydney etc etc etc, packed tons of charcoal, anyone who's been in a van with only males will know how that comes in handy, methane, who needs it. So I'll tell you guys and you can Tune in Turn on and Drop in.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/9530582013-06-18T04:55:23+09:302013-06-18T04:55:23+09:30To The Motel-Feature artist on Home Brew RadioWe are very god damned stoked to be a feature artist on Home Brew as it's a national show and as we are working all the hours the devil sent, striving to get our music and live show out there, this is a very welcome piece of news thank you very much, tune in guys, theyre easy to find no matter what area youre in, please email me when you hear us like last time, nice start to a monday. The interesting thing is it took 1 really focused standard and practices dude to even pick that there were unsavoury themes, not even the band got it, I think it's because it's interspersed with some humourous lines '' I'm going to put you out of my misery and when your phone don't ring you'll know it's me ''. The most interesting thing that has yet to surface is the use of an old tin pan alley tradition where you borrow a lick and reuse it, I have borroew something from a female jazz musician singer that some musicologist is going to discover one day and freak the jazz world out and the rock world, never the twain shall meet, but they met and they met like they were always meant for rock, but those jazz cats man, iv'e done time on the road in jazz groups and they are the original fucking gangsters, Splash Drinkwater and his crew are a bunch oif dirty old bastards and some of the basement crew I comped for on various runs of gigs etc are filthy dirty scoundrels, love em all, anyhow a jazz lyric that shows the scene aint different from band to band, era to era.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/8594452013-06-03T01:29:47+09:302013-06-03T01:29:47+09:30New Interview Audio Archive We had been thinking about this for a while but lately with the release of To the motel we we're struck by some of the most interresting well thought out interviews that we said, sheeyit, we're going to get this going, we've missed a couple of great ones because we hadn't thought of it, Jai and Nick immediately spring to mind but there are a ton of others, you also get a lot of dj's who are true prophets, they aint about hit counts, and page view, and being publicity whores, they are there for the music, they don't use last names, have no fbook page, hardly anything that promotes the self, they just expose the plethora of under represented music, lord god whatever you are, sheppherd these deciples through the dark night.
Anyhow our first two that will be up soon will be Lara on Fresh Fridays for her fantastic session done recently and also will be new and approves on syn fm with will wnd chelsea who as you'll hear, did as equally a smash up job. It's an artform you know, you try and guide a person who you only know through some publicists boilerplate paragraph, tryn establish a rapport and keep the conversation flowing, imagine if you got the mono syllabic dark brrodong ' im too cool for this, its about the music man, it aint an easy job, anyhow ill get a couple up soon.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/8284682013-05-29T05:17:33+09:302013-05-29T05:17:33+09:302MCE Rock Radio Had a good talk with Harold today about all things music, the dude has a show that runs seamlessly, and the vibe of the show is what makes it a popular station, people were requesting and actively on the dial listening to what we were going on about, and we did go on because we both come from a similar place musically, you gotta love an interview that's more like a chat in a queue while your waiting to see your favourite band, too good.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/8284652013-05-29T05:05:00+09:302013-05-29T05:05:00+09:30Yesterdays Hedgehog 4ZzZ - Interview Did an excelent interview today, what makes this show so relevant to a band like us is, Keith Whitfood has followed the band over a period of time, the show knew the difference between the last material which was a more ska orientated tune, to this which is a close approximation to our live sound, a high energy alt rock song, done with no auto tune, live in a big room. We've always had support from 4ZzZ and it was great after 5 years to finally put a voice to the station, as opposed to email etc, this type of feedback, knowing someone somewhere at a station that we hold in high esteem, likes and plays us, all the way since 2008, keeps us going, long live Agitiate, educate, demonastrate.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/8107282013-05-25T06:04:58+09:302013-05-25T06:04:58+09:30SYN FM New and Approved I did an interview with Will and Chelsea tonight and I have to say the line of questioning was exemplary, questions that were well researched that took me aback, things like will knowing our back catalogue and recognising the eclecticism in our style, Chelsea probing into the sonic ambition of the record, I gotta say it was a job well done, I'm hoping I can get a copy as I was given a heap of spa ce to described various aspects of the band as a whole that I'm sure our friends would like to hear, anyhow I'm getting tired, peace.

William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/8103332013-05-25T04:30:00+09:302013-05-25T04:30:00+09:30National Radio Homebrew with Brommers & Noddy Tune in to a station near you guys, this interview goes to 75 stations across Australia so it's a good chance for you to hear what we are up to. I could keep going but to any doors afficionado, you know it all, its all there, what is a testament to the Ray and the band is that because they were film students they were wise enough to document some of the rolling chaos in 68 etc, Thanks Ray, for giving me something to hold on to, you were a 1960's idealogue, and some of the things you guys talked about however twee it may sound to people who don't get it, were essntially as true then as they are now, say hello to Danny sugarman, Jack Holzman,Jim, Jim H, Brian J, the whole club, Janis last words, last words, out.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/7758252013-05-21T01:12:32+09:302013-05-21T01:12:32+09:30To The Motel-Amrap/Airit Pick We are pretty chuffed to have been selected by the musical directors alliance at amrap for an amrap/airit pick, what it means for a struggling band like ourselves is, it lets all the other community station know what might be good for them to play, so consequently we'll get more spins, which is why i keep prattling on about saving community and amrap, we need it, not just us , Australia, to keep our artistic diversity not just in the hands of a few, absolute power, and all that, so guys, if you want to help us, sign the petition on the $1.4 mil we need for the digital services, keep your subscriptions up to date, that is all, peaceWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/7727392013-05-20T03:58:18+09:302013-05-20T03:58:18+09:30New Grooves Inner F.M-To The MotelWill be getting a spin tommorrow between 1-2 and on thursday night as well, tune in guys, thanks to Adrian Hook. Hey people, recently a couple of you guys asked why the albums not available even though its done, lemme explain, firstly, i'd love to be able to send it out because its our best effort thus far but we have to in industry talk, '' get all our ducks lined up '' , ie weve got to synchronise the radio send out with the film clip with the gigs with the right time where there are full weeks whilst the radio pitch goes on, in short, it's to maximise the official release as a big shazinga rather than a bit here and a bit there.

I hope you'll like it but im pretty sure that those of you who are full tilt stikererers will love it as much as we do, weve used a simple approach where we went for feel over perfection, we tracked in a great big live room that had excellent accoustics and weve made the album we so much needed to make. Also there is zilch, nada, no autotune, not one note altered, us with our pants down, and there's very little overdubs anywhere or any multi layered guitars etc, lets see where this takes things shall we.
We have loosely defined ourselves, which as you guys who know us will know, aint easy as we take twists and turns at every given opportunity, and not because we plan it that way, it's just the path of least resistance when you have four dudes with a lot of influences amongst them and no central dictatorship governing matters of artistic merit, anyone can challenge the direction.
Anyhow thanks to Craig Halstead for his help, it's this type of help that keeps a band fueled up and pushing on, especially as there's a big contingent of surfers within our camp, it makes long haul gigging great when you camp out and get surf in amongst the gigs. Cheaper too, and generally coming home with a mixture of salt spray and late night stank dank from seedy gelatonious venues is a good mix to polax yourself on.
Anyhow we think we are Loc Rock, which translates to,'' Left of Centre Rock'' which suits us and describes us and gives us a broad umbrella from which to operate under and for people to define us by, you need a description unfortunately, maybe not such a bad thing, man it is soooooooo freakingly hot here in Adelaide right this second, it's 37 and i'm in a loungeroom with an old fan rotating noisily and bamboo window shades looking out onto a low tide white sand beachscape, it's australia after all, gotta go and get wetWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/2941392013-02-01T01:11:20+10:302013-02-01T01:11:20+10:30Thanks All of YouA great big thank you for your continued support, here's to you - St Croix Falls, Olstyn, sydney, Leichester, Stourbridge, Sheffield, Cork, all the way to Tacoma, Winter Springs, Ponzan, Kwinana, Preston, Brighton ( england ) as opposed to the next suburb on from Glenelg, Torun, Yeovil, Bristol, Cambridge, Ballarat, Dudley, Newcastle on Tyne, Nordrhein, Westfalen Melbourne, Broken Hill, australia, thanks for the visits and supports, cool emails, and for liking what we do, get ready for TO THE MOTEL nearly done, love you guys, PEACE.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/2865832013-01-24T03:48:07+10:302013-01-24T03:48:07+10:30Thank you guys - To the motel nearly done Hey guys, thanks for all the support and listens and downloads and thank you to all the people who donated their hard earned cash so that we can do this new record. This is a somewhat serious post, yes unfortunately it happens sometimes but we have just got to the bottom of a serious compromise of our online accounts including email, twitter, facebook, myspace, linkedin. What we have learnt from the pro we paid to chase it and fix the whole problem is, ( that ) bands as a whole tend to be laxadasical when it comes to online security as their may not be the same amount of emotional incentive in regard to the content and it's potential for misuse. I know this to be true of myself, I have left our twitter open and the last hacking incident was on twitter which was fortunately the incident which alerted us to the whole debacle. Thankfully because of twitters setup people noticed quickly that messages were not anyone of us and alerted us. I wish that someone had of done that ages ago, it is a really embarrasing thing to think that you have been sending out horrid representations of your band, which essentially equates to yourself and sending it to people who don't know you well enough to alert you. In the end we decided not to even go through it all as there was so much done it would've been like reading War and Peace. We now have to hope we're not in peoples spam boxes and work out an appropriate ' mass ' email to let people know that ' we don't sell watches ' !! and believe me that is only the mildly annoying last incident, some of them we're abstract, some sexually aggresive, some rude, ( what does '' they tapped you '' mean? not sure if that's in the Rude category or abstract ) you know the whole gamut. Anyhow at least now the security is safe. Thanks to those of you who let us know about the twitter and email in the last couple of weeks.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/2517782012-11-16T05:04:24+10:302012-11-16T05:04:24+10:30Loxton Hotel here we come Well that says it all eh, havent been here for a bit as we is recording and time is of the essence, love road trips, i did have something to say but got lost

William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/2332482012-10-17T01:32:51+10:302012-10-17T01:32:51+10:30Have A DNS with usIf you haven't heard about dns i'll elaborate, as you may well know, being a self funded small business, ie a functional band, requires new and innovative ways to keep the engine fueled. So the new trend which seems to have started in Canada but is spreading is, DNS, which is basically, you help a touring band and in return get a great night. Ok, you put the band up at your place for a night mid week while they wait to do their gig on the weekend, the band in turn does a gig at your house midweek, you invite your friend, each friend donates maybe ten bucks- and everybody has dinner together, then the band does a set for the guests, the band wins because we get free accomodation,a free feed and maybe sell a cd or two and if there are 10-15 guests we make a bit of coin from the donation, you win because you get a unique night which is a great way to entertain everyone, and if you support independant music your'e doing the best thing you could do for a band. The band may get new fans, we're not sitting around doing nothing, and we'd probably be practicing that night anyway so now we got an audience, any how if any of you guys are keen let us know when wer'e coming to your area, it will be a blastWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/2169902012-09-20T22:35:47+09:302012-09-20T22:35:47+09:30Mastering Blind Fred.E 1 song has passed our mix test and is being sent off to 301 tonight, we used george marino on our album but sadly he's left us, r.i.p george, anyhow can't wait to get it done, 1 down 3 to go,

These tireless coffee drinking, camel non filter/nicotine gum smoking/chewing obsessives are usually the first to discover new music as they are not playlisted and the recognition and exposure that are given to bands is what in the end keeps our spirits and drive up. It's also just plain exciting to think that there is in effect, freedom of expression in that nobody can censor these renegades, and ther'e no greasy nepotism that tends to fester in small pools in certain parts of every scene in the world, quite simply it becomes a merit based quality control, or lack of, that spews forth to our ears, and unfortuanetly, the platforms for exposure in the traditional formats are dying out, perhaps because when any movement becomes self conciouss and too inward looking it is the beginning of ''this sweet decline'' ( a band here i dig who's name fit my sentence ) and usually a new movement will come back in, which is usually a rejection of an older ideal that gets knocked off and replaced until that new movement does the same, you know, like punk, then grunge, then new new wave etc so on and so forth.......... better to burn out, than to fade away, my my hay hayWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/2115722012-09-10T09:00:02+09:302012-09-10T09:00:02+09:30hey how are you all? cheers to everyone who emailed and showed support for us while we've been making our album. we are humbled to think that you would do so much to help us get this next recording done, it keeps the band vibed up. every band needs a shot in the arm no matter what the public image may be, we're all just damaged people who crave affection to fill the enormous hole in us created by early childhood traumas that left us neurotic with fears of abandonment and the like.
They are not play listed and they are run by volunteers. As Myf Warhurst said on RRR today, every other station has an agenda, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, so what you get is not music made out of a burning artistic neccesity, but multi national card board cut out music, written by algorythmic statititians designed to be disposable and appeal to buyers of soap.

Bands you should be subscribing without even being prompted, if you don't fit Auntys mission statement where else do you have a platform? no where.

Once again we'd like to thank the oz community network who have supported us and made it possible for us to be self sustaining, without you we would never have got known outside of Adelaide, well we may have done but it would have been a much much harder run, it's hard as it is but I think a lot of bands underestimate the power and reach of community stations, instead hinging everything on the hope that aunty will pick them up. Big mistake.

Lobby for govermnment funding for Amrap, we need this great service, personally for us we have seen the effect of one good run from from an amrap send out, we have been able to create a great little platform for our music because of the combination of Amrap, community stations and hard work.

Now with triplej only taking on 8 new songs a week and getting 300 new releases a week, it's getting harder and harder for bands to get play on the national broadcaster so what's the answer to that? Amrap. Example, we have had spot plays on jjj but not rotation, meaning for us to be able to tour and break even we need someone else to fly the flag and amrap did this for us. From being relatively unknown around the place apart from a core group of our staunch aussie followers, one amrap run has effectively doubled our audience and has meant that when we gig we get people who have found out about us from amrap, the community network allows us to continue to make our art and know that it will be heard, after all that's the goal of most artists, to have a platform. Now you would think that a labor govnmnt traditionally is the group that has always supported the arts, starting off in the whitlam era. It saddens us all to think that they are not funding this crucial service and we wonder what the long term effect will be on the aussie music scene.
Man, after youv'e been doing this for a while you get used to the undulating level of intensity that comes about between periods of frenzied activity and the lulls of non productivity. One thing that is always hard for a band is playing to empty rooms, now any body who's honest, and as I said, has been doing it for a while will tell you that unless you hit the peak level of sucess like a massive juggernaut, your'e going to experience this, what you have to learn to do though, is give your very best in every given situation, be it a full room, or an empty one, and i'm just as guilty of not following my own advice as anyone, like at our gig blast night, it was so hard because we'd been getting used to things going sweet, and then through a combination of factors it was a quiet night sat night, and as i said a band relys on a triangle of kinetic energy, we play, the audiance listens, the audiance responds, we get that vibe and then throw it back out to the crowd in a big continuum. When you are only playing to a few people, the atmoshere is lacking and you just can't take the response to heart, you need to remember that the people that are there are listening, just like you, they can't exactly hang from the rafters if the vibe isn't set up for that, but they might be sitting there very attentively and you have to remeber that every person who's made the effort to come is an important and potential long term supporter. Man, what i'm dissapointed about in myself personally is, i didn't get a performing hard on, and phoned in the show, i got too wasted and stumbled around the stage, my banter was incoherent, and with all my experiance, i couldn't pull myself up out of thye funk i was in so just sang with my eyes closed the whole gig. It's been haunting me for a day now and i got to let it go but it's a hard lesson to have to learn. I remember playing with a big name aussie legend who's won arias and had a string of hits in every decade since the 70's, I was just supporting in an accoustic mode with just myself on a stool, but he did give me some sage advice. It was weird to watch this guy churn through a set, with a full 7 piece band, knowing that the 25 or so people in total, including the bar staff, mixer etc were all scratching our heads in bemusement wonmdering where the crowd was that night. But this guy didn't miss a beat, he plays with the shades on which with the other info here probaly gives those with a more astute knowledge of oz music a big clue as to his identity, but i don't feel right in saying it out loud here. But yeah it's the long and winding road of music, when i see the tv adds for ex frontmen of huge bands coming over here and playing to smaller rsl's etc, and the camera shots just look so, small and almost front bar- ish, it's a weird thing, like you read their biographys and see pics of them at the isle of white etc and you wonder why they bother, but the answer is, what elase do they do, i mean do you just stop when the tide fades, no! music is a lifelong passion and what i now realise is, as iv'e said in regards to myself, just having one person like your stuff is a buzz, so why would it be any differsnt to a big name, if they are getting 500 people instead of 50,000 people that doesn't make a difference to them, it's still a crowd, and that's the essnce of why anyone does it, to play and share and get response from someone else, so these days when i see, so and so presents, so and so at the crown casino in sunny queensland, i get why, i used to go, oh cmon so and so, your'e ruining your legend, why man, how wrong i was, really some of those dudes should be applauded for doing it for the people who never got to see it when they were in their prime, and iv'e also learned that a lot of these dudes and dudettes had poor finacial advice, shady agents, drug, clothes, car, gambling etc habits or record deals that were just unbelievabley harsh, so they actually aren't rich and famous, just famous, now how fucking hard would that be!? your'e a bit older, people have a pre conceived idea of you, they don't want to believe that you need to work, or drive a cheap old car, or have a mortgage, and youv'e got all these unrealistic projections on you without the monetary security, so yeah, entertainment is a cruel, cruel business.
one of the hardest things that i hear a lot of really talented people say, is that they think that just because they are talented that they should be as high up as some people who are there and may have less talent, it's just not an industry like that, there are no steps or pathways like in a traditinal career that will assure you sucess, iv'e heard dave grohl say that he wouldn't advise his own kids to do it as 99% of the time it just doesn't pay off, thats a hard and depressing fact when you here it from one of the worlds shining lights, and even his story, there was a lot of luck, listen to bernard fanning, he has a similar take, just look at what has happened post finger, with all their respective local profiles, not one of the members new projects have gained any traction. god i'm giving my self a bummer, time to maybe go and strum a tune in the dunnyWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/1466642012-03-11T02:45:52+10:302012-03-11T02:45:52+10:30HomeBrew Radio-Interview this week Hey people, we'll be on Brommers @ Noddys show on homebrew this week if anyone want to tune in, the show goes out to over 80 or so stations across Oz so it aint hard to find em on the dial, it's really good timing because wer'e heading across to Vic a couple of weeks after that, i'm glad that they kept our interview to fit in with that, anyhow if you havent tuned into the station before and your'e into oz music, youv'e been living in the dark ages, they do a great service for oz bands and we couldn't exist without the help that is provided by stations and shows like this.
Also wer'e at the Gov tonight playing through our three albums, gonna be pretty casual as the gov front bar is like our lounge room, we cut our teeth there and its a great joint to play.
Will see you guys soon when i'm a little worse for wear, that seems to be quite popular with the crew who read this segment regularly, which the numbers seem to be growing, I know this because when I miss a day I get txts saying ''cmon, wheres the next one''
I'm cross eyed now so see you soonWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/1463862012-03-10T07:56:34+10:302012-03-10T07:56:34+10:30Madboy on Rage tonight Going to be sitting up and checking it out again, enough about me, what do you think of me, a dickhead!!!? cmon that's a bit harsh, a cockknock maybe, but a tool, that's rough man, anyhow Rage tonight at 4.00, be there or be square daddy 0William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/1460682012-03-09T00:46:21+10:302012-03-09T00:46:21+10:30I'd Rather be a hammer than a nail yes i would, if i on ly could, i surely would, mmmnnn , mnnnnmnn,
so let's go see the man who began it, janet, made me give you the eye and then panick, janet, dammit janet i love you
another flashing chance at bliss another kiss another kiss
the days are bright, and filled with pain, enclose me in your gentle rain, the time you ran was too insane, we'll meet again
i spied my connection and slid up along side him with my hands pushed deep into my trench coat pockets, my collar turned up i hunched and strode in rythym, as we walked along the bustling street i prepared to cop, just before the entrance to the train station i reached out and dropped a hundred bucks in sols jacket pocket and he handed me the cap, i then ducked down a flight of stairs to the subway, i didn't have a ticket but i got on anyway
finally i sucked up all the solution, flicking the pick with my finger the air bubbles hit the top and one droplet hung on the end of the sharp, pulling the torniquay' tight my hungry vein throbbed and i ran a swab along my butchered arm, as the spike penetrated the skin and a flush of bright red blood sputtered back into the fit, i released the belt and pushed the plunger, removed the pick and placed a swab on top, i leaned back and moaned, lit a smoke and took a long thunderous drag, the smoke filled the room and i had the first particularly dumb thought of the day, this will be the last time, looking down i felt sorry for my abused arm and wiped it tenderly, the full force of the warm cellular smothering now crept over me, spreading to the back of my legs and up my spine, i felt vaguely hungry and thirsty, but it was too much effort to do either, the smoke had now burnt down to butt leaving a long wad of ash that was threatening to fall, if god made anything better he kept it for himself.

William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/713822012-03-08T07:10:57+10:302012-03-08T07:10:57+10:30the playboys Were a great band, who backed up Normie Rowe I believe, and at the moment I fucking love Victorias community network for pummeling our songs and album, including a dude who has his own show and was a member of the Playboys, the Bass Player, but as Vic and melbs is the closest city to us and state we are targeting our blitzkreig there first and you know what, it's a hell of a lot easier when your getting your tunes played on radio, It is hard but satisying pushing the message, but when you wash off the trip after the first night of decent sleep, you wake up, then it's all worth while, so anyway, we do a gig sat night at the gov, wer'e knocking out two sets, then down at the jbar next sat with the electric sunkings from ballarat, then across to the brunswick, the prague, then revolver then ballarat. i love pawn stars, i gots to get me some moneyWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/1447072012-03-03T15:25:03+10:302012-03-03T15:25:03+10:30Staying up watching rage,an australian tradition I used to sit up choofing away watching rage, it's an australian thing, in s.a you tend to get pretty twisted, we had fairly liberal laws on harm reduction towards perceived softer drugs, and I loved getting twisted and watching the box, dreaming how I could do it too, and in the last year it's happened four times so far, and next week again, now that's the beauty of this country, you get a fair go for wealth for toil, and the ABC is an old lefty station from wayback so gives everyone a go under it's egalitarian left wing art minded ethos, and that's a great thing for musos who want to be bothered making art in the medium of film as well as music, wev'e done all our own clips so far, and it's hard work but great fun, and to have the platform of national tv to air it on, gives a band the inspiration to try, fuck the crap commercialism of god damn seal the sell out, benji the has been never really was and keef urban, like get higher steps if your'e gonna stand next to botox kidman, now delta, she reminds me of olivia neutron bomb, so she can get by unscathed here, but yeah, love this country, love it's committment to the arts, love the artists, the mad ones, the weird and twisted, long live the king.William Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/1445762012-03-03T04:43:57+10:302012-03-03T04:43:57+10:30RAGE ABC - Madboy on Rage tonight Our clip is on rage tonight, gonna sit up and crucify myself and wish i'd worn a bit more foundation, what! you fuckin poof! hey shit for brains, even hard death metallers wear make up, done with all the subtlety of a 5 y.old with a crayon, but they wear it, not a good example, hang on, let me think, ummmn, even johny depp wears make up, wait wait wait, off track, even ummnnn like , i dont know look shut up, it'
anyway where on rage tonight if anyone is interestedWilliam Street Strikerstag:williamstreetstrikers.com,2005:Post/693182012-02-24T23:20:36+10:302012-02-24T23:20:36+10:30Watching Ellen waiting for Tony got a phone in at 1.45 today, gotta wait for tony to buzz me from 2EL FM, it's a thankless task, that is i never answer my phone as i have 'acute onset late stage answerphoneaphobia' and screen all my calls, this has been brought about because i run my own business and get sick of dribbling shit when it's inconvieniant to me, and especially when i'm on the job, busting my arse, the last thing i want to be doing is talking about more ass busting and being a free information service for the general population ' hi jim bobludunctaturnikoff here, i'm trying to do this to my ------ and i was hoping you could tell me how id go about it'' yeah mate because i love giving away my time and experience without any monetary compensation, how about you go and do your job, then at the end of the week the boss goes to you '' hey bob can ya invoice me'' another pet peeve, like how do these people think small business survives, do they go down to woolies and at the checkout say, '' hey woolies can you invoice me for that bag of groceries, one of the god damn worst things i'm finding is, '' can you gimme your bank details and i'll transfer it tonight, which translates to '' iv'e decided that from all appearances that your'e a soft touch, and i'm a bit short of cash so i'll promise to pay you and then wait for two texts, three missed calls and a posted invoice that makes you, the guy who's done the job feel like a scum bag for asking for what is rightly mine, to eventually put the cash through 3 weeks later " it gives me the shits but you'd be surprised at how many people do this thinking that business runs on some sort of divine good will, nah, we don't have bills, creditors, employees, etc etc etc, iv'e decided to end it soon, i'm either getting a machine to take card payments or just stopping it all together, i mean the reason i do it is its easier to keep track of your earnings and it can be convieniant, but fuck it, i mean whats wrong with cash, or cheque, is it a dirty word to pay on completion, like, i don't go and get my tyres changed and ask to inet it. Let me tell you though, as an accumulative reaction to being scewed en masse, iv'e been getting really hard '' no that's ok i'll come past and collect it after work, or ''oh ok. that's fine if your'e not home till ten i'll be in your area and i'll just drop in, soon itl be '' no we dont do inet......... anyhow so yeah 1.45 and i'll have to pick up, and another thing, why the fuck do people have private numbers, i mean nobody answers them for fear of offshore marketing companies trying to pretend theyr'e telstra, cmon, get a number or go through to voice mail.
